The masked ball tokens are done. I had a fancier plan for lacing them, but it started to bulk them up and look cluttered. Instead I went with simple. Still for something I have never tried before I was pleased with them as an attempt.

Masked Ball site tokens part two...
One more step done on the site tokens for masked ball. All the little masks are now painted. Simple acrylic paint. I was pretty happy with the colors. The dead line kept me from adding a bit more detail...and of course I expect to run out. I should have made a few more. Oh well live and learn.
Masked Ball 2014 site tokens
So I was asked to build some site tokens for Masked Ball 2014 (SCA event). Going with the theme I decided to try my hand at making some small masks. Here is the start. They are wet molded leather and just over an inch wide.

Archery Arm Guard...prototype
Archery Arm Guard...prototype
To make up for being totally lazy today I decided to pound out the first prototype of a period archery guard. Based on an illumination from the 14th c. I make no claims to the depth of this research. I needed a starting point and I figured a period illumination was close enough to get running. Also pardon the sloppy tooling. I did it in like 20 minutes just so the guard would not end up simple leather. Really rough but just enough to give it a dry run so I can make tweaks

Rhydderich Hael Fencing Marshal Badge
I was asked to make a fencing Marshal badge for the Hael. It took me a while to get to the project but I finally finished it off this week. Tooled and painted leather. The little dragon is a charm that was provided by the requestor. It is a double layer of leather so I could create the frame the dragon charm sits in.

Champs tokens....the final chapter
Champs tokens....the final chapter...
Forgot to put a shot of the final tokens. We didn't need 52 of them :). I plan to add some dragon charms to them and donate them to the Barony for general use. I was pretty happy with how they turned out. Looks like I will be doing the event tokens for Masked Ball 2014 as well.

Hael Baronial Champs Tokens...part 2
Baronial Champs tokens. Now in green and black dye and some additional tooling. Had an oops because of a change of plans, but its not huge. All edges have been slicked. The next step is to paint the R and H on the front in gold.

Hael Baronial Champs Tokens
Not done yet, but a sneak peek. These are the special champion tokens that we are going to hand out to people running for a spot to be a Rhydderich Hael Baronial Champion. They go to anyone who competes with the intention to become a champ and the populace is invited to look for them and thank them or even reward them with a small favor. All hand tooled leather. 52 of them...I hope I run out.

Catching up on projects...
Since I am on vacation this week I took some time to get caught up on projects that are long overdue. Completed so far are these two C-belts (used to hold up leg armor) for Duke Sir Maynard and Sir Otto. A third is drying and after assembly will go to Lord Wolfgang. Otto's and Wolfgang's are front pointed (meaning the armor is attached more towards the front) and Maynard's is side pointed. How you point them is based on preference and your style of leg armor. These can also be attached to a shoulder harness for people with no waist (like myself). They are really super comfy to wear. I can't take credit for the original pattern but I have made (and continue to make) some design modifications as I experiment with them.
