This is a collection of old projects. Most of the photos are so-so. I was not making an effort to take quality photos until starting this blog. I apologize for that and the "used condition" of some of the work. A lot of the armor work is not for SCA but a throw back to my LARP (Live action role playing) days. I will add more photos as I find them.
Leather helmet
Fantasy style helmet I made for Dagorhir Battle games. The mail came from a museum replicas coif but I was forced to dismantle it down to rings and rebuild it so it would fit. Because of this I can claim a little bit of effort in the addition.
Leather torso armor
Fantasy style but very functional. Tooled leather lion on the front. The color is two tone dye. So it is dark leather dye and light leather dye. It is difficult but very durable. This was meant for LARP but could easily be used for SCA. In the second picture you can see the matching vambraces and shoulders.
Leather half-gauntlets
Leather half-gauntlets for use in LARP. Two tone dye. Design could be used for the SCA but it would need to be "beefed" up. The gloves are commercial gloves inserted ito the half-gauntlets. I did not make that part.
Leather sword belt
Honestly not much custom work on this one. Its an assemblage of hardware on a belt blank. However I always liked the look of it.
Leather lower leg armor
These are a fantasy design. Lower leg and knee armor for LARP. Two tone dye.
Early attempt at a period pouch
This was a first attempt at a period pouch. It turned out nice but was a bit small for functional use. I also made the belt in the background. Not custom work. Just an assemblage belt.
Gray leather and titanium "false Brigandine"
This was a very old project for my friend Mike (pictured below). Originally the plan was to quickly rivet titanium plates to a leather shell. However the plates came in irregular shapes that made it impossible to cleanly rivet them to the shell. Instead I ended up hand sewing separate pockets for each of the plates to sit in. The rivets you see on the outside of the shell are simply riveted on the leather to give it that "brig look". This project took an ridiculous amount of time to complete, but the armor ended up very sound. It has been in continuous use until just recently.
Tooled Leather Vambraces
One of my earliest tooling projects. Tooled leather vambraces with some sort of antique finish. I am thinking it was a tree, but I am not sure. Perhaps Middle Earth related. My technique has improved a bit since then.
